Not at all. Pixel art is actually more forgiving than traditional drawing. We start with the absolute basics — grid work, simple shapes, and building from there. Most students are surprised how quickly they pick it up.
We cover both free and paid options. Aseprite is industry-standard, but we also teach Piskel, LibreSprite, and even Photoshop techniques. You can start with free tools and upgrade later if you want.
You’ll create your first character sprite in the first few weeks. By month two or three, you’re building complete tilesets and animated sequences. Everyone progresses at their own pace, but the fundamentals stick pretty quickly.
